Architecture Photography FAQ

What is your process?

-Pre-Production Meeting to discuss all points need to be covered with the photography project

-Location Scouting and Light Study, it will be 1-10 days prior to the photoshoot. The goal of this location scout is to get familiar with the building/space, explore various compositional opportunities, and identify any areas of concern that will need to be addressed prior to the photoshoot.

-Photography Guide and Final Shot List.. final shot-list for your approval prior to the photo shoot and discuss any further details if necessary

-Photo Shoot Day.

-Digital Post-Production…post-production and retouching for a single image can take 2-3x longer than time spent on-location to set-up/capture that image. We do all post-production in-house to ensure each image meets my high standards for quality

-Final Delivery and Invoicing…Once the final images have been approved, we will send an invoice for the remaining balance in accordance with the latest approved estimate, we email you a download link for your files.

What do we need to do to prepare?

We will need the space ready to capture! This means decor and displays set up the way you want and of course, clean. We do not provide staging services.

How do I know I am getting the photographs that I want?

Every photo shoot starts way before we arrive on-location. From initial inquiry to pre-production meetings, shot-list development, site-visits, the photo shoot, and final retouching — my process is highly collaborative. We will work side-by-side throughout the entire process to ensure the final photographs are exactly what you want.
Once we are on-location, the camera will be tethered to the computer. You will be able to see the images as they are created and sign off on the composition, styling, and lighting decisions as they happen in real time.

How many photographs can you create in a day?

Generally, We create eight to twelve photographs in a full-day. This number can vary depending on the size of the project, the complexity of the photos, and how much staging, styling, and lighting need to be done. Some clients request as few as five photographs, and some of course need many more.

Why does it take so long?

While an architectural or interior photograph may look simple, clean, and effortless — nothing could be further from the truth. A well executed architectural photograph involves many factors such as composition, time of day, adding light, flagging light, styling, moving furniture, adding models, etc. We generally allot thirty minutes per photo for exteriors and one hour per photo for interiors.

What is cost sharing and why should we bother?

Strategic cost-sharing partnerships allow you and your project partners to make the most of your architectural photography investment without sacrificing the shot list or quality of the final photographs. For a detailed Cost Sharing Guide with example cost-sharing scenarios.
